Paddleboarding In Oxford: 3 of the best locations
Here are 3 great locations to park up and launch your paddleboard in Oxford.
Godstow Car Park (Wolvercote)
This is a stunning stretch of the River Thames and perfect for beginners (but it can get a little windy – so check the forecast). Free parking and free toilets, with great pubs near by.
Sunnymeade Bathing Place (Sunnymeade)
This stretch of the River Cherwell is pretty magical. The city disappears as you enter a countryside setting – with fields, cows and nature galore. Try making a return trip to the excellent Victoria Arms pub. Free parking but no toilets.
Donnington Bridge (Iffley)
This stretch of the River Thames is a little more chaotic, but the sites are world class. If you can dodge the rowers and punters, then head upriver (Northwards) and paddle up the mouth of the River Cherwell – this takes you past Christ Church Meadow and on to Magdalen College and the Oxford Botanic Garden. A fantastic option for confident paddlers. Free parking but no toilets.
